What is electrolysis? How does it work?

Electrolysis is the only 100% permanent form of hair removal approved by the FDA. Practitioners insert a fine metal probe into each hair follicle individually, and use a small electrical current to destroy the structures responsible for regrowth.

Is electrolysis painful?

For most clients, electrolysis is less painful than waxing, tweezing, or laser hair removal. For clients with sensitive skin, we can provide OTC numbing products or refer to a physician for prescription-strength products.

Is electrolysis safe?

Yes, when performed by a certified professional following internationally recognized standards with a modern electrolysis machine. Our electrologists hold Cosmetic Therapist certifications from the Ohio Medical Electrology Institute in Mansfield, OH, and work with modern Apilus Senior 3G electrolysis machines.

Is electrolysis right for my skin and hair type?

Yes. Electrolysis works for all skin types and hair colors, including gray, red, and blonde hairs.

Are there any side effects to electrolysis?

Temporary side effects can include minor redness, swelling, and irritation, which typically subside within a few hours to one day.
